Preston Stables LLC’s Flat Out was somewhat overlooked at 6-1 in a deep field in the $753, 000 Cigar Mile Handicap (G1) at Aqueduct, but the the 7-year-old Florida-bred son of Flatter sat back off a lively pace, rallied wide turning for home and closed relentlessly to get up and win by a length amd a quarter. It’s the third grade one win for Flat Out, sold for $11,000 as a weanling by Thoroughstock, Agent, at the 2006 OBS Fall Mixed Sale. The win gives him a 29-9-5-5 record and earnings of $3,645,383.
