W.C. Racing, Dave Kenney and RAP Racing’s Goldencents tracked the early pace of fellow OBS graduate Manando (March ’12, August ’11) in Santa Anita’s $100,000 Sham Stakes (G3), wore him down in the drive and pulled away to a 1-1/2 length victory. Manando settled for third. It’s the second straight graded stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Into Mischief, trained by Doug O’Neill and purchased by Dennis O’Neill for $62,000 out of the Southern Chase Farm (Greg and Karen Dodd) consignment at the 2012 OBS June Sale. Houyhnhnm Stable’s Great Attack successfully defended his title in Tampa Bay Downs’ $75,000 Turf Dash Stakes, hitting the front five wide in the final furlong and winning by a length and three quarters over fellow OBS graduate Silver Cloud (April ’10). It’s the third stakes score for the graded stakes winning three-time OBS graduate, consigned by Hidden Brook, Agent, to the 2008 January and October Sales before being sold by Eddie Woods, Agent, for $37,000 at the 2009 OBS April Sale. Saul and Max Kupferberg’s Sunny Desert ran off her sixth straight win on Sunday, coming from last in a field of four to win $75,000 Cat Cay Stakes at Aqueduct by a length under a hand ride. That’s four stakes wins for the 4-year-old daughter of Wild Desert, sold for $2,000 by Quiet Time Farm, Agent, at the 2009 OBS Fall Mixed Sale. She’s now 11-6-3-0 and has earned $311,750 to date.
