The 2012 OBS Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training begins on Monday, April 23rd. There are 1, 196 two-year-olds cataloged for the four-day sale, which continues through Thursday, April 26th. All four sessions begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com.
Seven previous Spring Sale graduates have won grade one races since the beginning of last year, with 2011 graduate I’ll Have Another heading for the Kentucky Derby (G1) as one of the favorites after his victory in the recent Santa Anita Derby (G1). Atlantic Hurricane, a 2009 graduate, recently joined Eclipse Award winners Musical Romance and Blind Luck on the roster of champion Spring Sale graduates, winning the Sovereign Award as Canada’s champion female sprinter.
The other grade one winners include Stephanie’s Kitten, whose victory in the Darley Alcibiades Stakes (G1) was a springboard to her win in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Stakes (G2). Turbulent Descent and Weemissfrankie both posted a pair of grade one victories and Ultimate Eagle’s three graded wins included the G1 Hollywood Derby.
At the Under Tack Show, four horses worked an eighth in :9 4/5 to share honors for the fastest work at the distance. Last Tuesday, it was Hip No. 233, a filly by Henny Hughes consigned by Best A Luck Farm, Agent. The bay filly is out of Cape Discovery, by Cape Town, from the family of graded stakes winner Inexplicable. She was joined on Friday by three more youngsters. Hip No. 967, consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm, Agent, is a dark bay or brown colt by Broken Vow out of stakes placed Runaway in Love, by Runaway Groom. Hip No. 1171, a dark bay or brown colt by After Market consigned by Harris Training Center LLC, is out of stakes winner Travelator, by A.P Jet. Hip No. 1194, a dark bay or brown filly by Wildcat Heir consigned by Flying Fish, Agent, is out of Unrepentant, by Pleasant Tap, a daughter of stakes placed Roadie.

Hip No. 201, consigned by Hoppel’s Horse and Cattle Co., Agent, is a dark bay or brown filly by Ready’s Image out of Bound to Blush, by Boundary, a daughter of graded stakes winner Blush. Hip No. 278, a chestnut filly by Cowtown Cat consigned by Blue River Bloodstock, is out of stakes placed Classy Daniela, by Regal Classic. Hip No. 602, consigned by Blue River Bloodstock, Agent, is a dark bay or brown filly by Safe in the U S A out of Just Call Me Berty, by Bertrando, a full sister to stakes winner Little Snake Bit. Hip No. 711, Really Mr Greely, is a dark bay or brown colt by Horse Greeley consigned by Thoroughbred Friends and Associates, Agent, out of Mattie Camp, by Forest Camp, a half sister to stakes placed Promise One. The Under Tack Show’s fastest three eighths was turned in on Tuesday by Hip No. 64, My Jealous, a colt by Halo’s Image consigned by Blue River Bloodstock, Agent. The bay colt is out of Windjammin Lady, by Helmsman, a daughter of stakes winner Loudon Top.
