Hip No. 453, colt by Stormello consigned by Blue River Bloodstock, Agent, went to Bob Baffert, Agent, for $300,000 to top the second and final session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2011 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age. The dark bay or brown colt, whose quarter in :20 4/5 was the sale’s fastest at the distance, is out of Puff the Magic, by Red Ransom, a daughter of stakes winner Miss Power Puff.
Hip No. 317, a filly by Proud Accolade consigned by Lynne Boutte, Agent, was sold to Patrice Miller & Jeff Seder EQB, Agent, for $200,000. The bay filly, a half sister to stakes winner Too Experience out of Lake Victoria, by Meadowlake, worked an eighth on Sunday in :9 4/5, the sale’s fastest at the distance.
Hip No. 336, a colt by Lawyer Ron consigned by Jimmy Miranda, Agent, went to Nick J. Hines, Agent, for $100,000. The chestnut colt, who worked an eighth on Sunday in :10 3/5, is out of Livia B Quick, by Crafty Prospector.
Hip No. 415, a filly by Yes It’s True consigned by W.D. North Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent, was sold to Bortolazzo Stables for $100,000. The dark bay or brown filly, who worked three eighths in :33 4/5, is out of stakes winner Once Around, by You and I.
For the session, 168 2-year-olds horses grossed $3,531,200, averaging $21,019 with a $10,000 median price. The buyback percentage was 26.3%. Five older horses sold for total of $19,400, averaging $3,880.
For the sale, 339 2-year-olds brought a total of $7,121,700, compared with 230 2-year-olds grossing $4,912,100 in last year’s single session. The average price was $21,008 compared with $21,357 last year, while the median price was $10,000 compared with $15,000 in 2010. The buyback percentage was 27.9%; it was 31.3% a year ago. Eleven horses sold for $100,000 or more compared with seven last year.
