H. Jack Hendricks and Roger Justice’s Ohio Derby winner East Hall was overlooked at 16-1 in Saturday’s $507, 100 Indiana Derby (G2), but the 3-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Graeme Hall tracked front-running Vicar’s in Trouble from the start, chased him down the stretch and then ran past him late to score by a length. It’s his first graded win, and it leaves him with a 18-4-3-4 record and $662,545 in earnings. A two time OBS graduate, he was sold first by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2012 August Sale. After working an Under Tack quarter in :21 3/5 at the 2013 April Sale, he was purchased by trainer Bill Kaplan for $55,000 on behalf of Hendricks and Justice out of the Southern Chase Farm, Inc. (Greg and Karen Dodd) consignment. watch his under tack video
