The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company today announced that Ty Springer has been named to succeed Dean Wright as general manager of Ocala Breeders’ Feed & Supply upon Wright’s retirement at the end of June.
Springer, who has been on board since March 1st and is working alongside Wright to assure a smooth transition, is well known to area horsemen in his previous capacity as Purina Feed’s Equine Specialist. A member of the 1983 Champion National Intercollegiate Men’s Rodeo Team as an undergraduate, he received his Masters degree in Agriculture from Texas Tech University in 1997.
Dean Wright has been at the helm of OBS Feed since the company absorbed Happy Valley Farm Supply in 1981, overseeing the completion of the company’s feed mill in 1983, the only mill of its type devoted only to horse feeds. Under his leadership, OBS Feed has grown to be a major presence in the Florida horse feed industry, with two major retail locations in Ocala and more than a dozen dealers statewide. “Dean has been with us since before the first shovel hit the ground to build our feed mill,” said OBS Board Chairman Mike O’Farrell. “He’s been here every step of the way in developing our extensive product line and deserves great credit for the company’s growth and success. We appreciate his guidance as Ty prepares to take command. Ty’s credentials and experience make him an ideal choice to follow in Dean’s footsteps and we are delighted to welcome him to the team.”
Producing and marketing a wide variety of specialty feeds and grains, OBS Feed also offers its customers bedding and farm and tack supplies as well as animal health and pet products.
