Amerman Racing LLC’s Trikari (Oscar Performance – Dynamic Holiday) stalked the pace from the start of Saturday’s $750,000 Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes (G1) at Aqueduct, collared the leader after turning for home and battled gamely to the wire, proving best by a head. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Oscar Performance, consigned by Ordonez Thoroughbreds, Agent, to the 2022 October Yearling Sale and purchased by Amerman Racing for $27,500. West Point Thoroughbreds, Chris Larsen and Titletown Racing Stables’ Gal in a Rush (Ghostzapper – Hudson River Gal) turned for home last of nine in Woodbine’s $135,000 Hendrie Stakes (G3), but she closed with a rush in the middle of the track and was going away at the wire, a winner by a length and a quarter. Fellow OBS graduate Play the Music (Mo Town – Hey Little Sister) checked in third. It’s the first stakes victory for the 5-year-old daughter of Ghostzapper, purchased by West Point for $375,000 at the 2021 OBS March Sale out of the de Meric Sales consignment after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Rohan Crichton, Dennis G. Smith and Daniel L. Walters’ Real Macho (Mucho Macho Man – Hedonism) trailing early in Gulfstream’s $79,000 Carry Back Stakes on Friday, circled horses to take the lead a quarter from home and opening daylight in the stretch, held off a late charge to score by a head. It’s the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old son of Mucho Macho Man, trained by Rohan Crichton, now 8-3-0-0 with $148,420 in earnings.
