Unbeaten Kinza romps in Santa Anita’s Santa Ysabel

Michael Lund Petersen’s unbeaten Kinza (Carpe Diem – Secret Wonder) made it three for three with two graded stakes victories. Going right to the front in Saturday’s$101,500 Santa Ysabel Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita the 3-year-old filly by millionaire OBS graduate Carpe Diem, trained by Bob Baffert, opened up on the turn and drew off in the stretch to an effortless five length victory. Daniel Alonso’s Skippylongstocking successfully defended his title on Saturday in the $100,000 Challenger Stakes (G3) at Tampa Bay  Downs, pressing the pace, taking over in the stretch and easing away to a 2-1/2 length victory. That’s five graded stakes wins for the 4-year-old colt by Exaggerator trained by Saffie A. Joseph, Jr., who has compiled a 22-7-2-4 record and earned $1,654,185. Consigned by Top Line Sales to the 2021 OBS Spring Sale, he was sold for $37,000 after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5.  watch his under tack video

Ashbrook Farm and Upland Flats Racing’s Red Carpet Ready stalked the pace in Gulfstream’s $145,000 Hurricane Bertie Stakes (G3) on Saturday, swung out for the drive, took command a furlong out and was best by half a length. It’s the third graded stakes victory for the 4-year-old daughter of Oscar Performance, consigned by Mayberry Farm, Agent, to the 2022 OBS Spring Sale, where she went through the ring after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5.  Now 7-5-0-1 for trainer Rusty Arnold, she has earned $666,370.  watch her under tack video     Spring Sale walking video

Purple Rein Racing’s Mucho Del Oro (Mucho Macho Man – Repeta) scored his first stakes victory in Saturday’s $101,500 San Simeon Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita. The 6-year-old son of Mucho Macho took the lead at the start and gamely held it to the finish, best by a length. Trained Doug O’Neill, he’s now 17-9-2-0 and has earned $355,100. He was sold for 30,000 at the 2020 OBS Spring Sale by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

KEM Stables’ Hot Fudge (Liam’s Map – Nelle’s Mischief) rated wide off the pace in Saturday’s $100,000 Correction Stakes at Aqueduct, went after the leaders down the stretch and was up in the final jump to score by a nose. It’s the fifth consecutive victory and third stakes win in a row for the 5-year-old daughter of Liam’s Map, trained by Linda Rice, now 13-8-1-1 with $493,905 in earnings. She was purchased for $235,000 out of the Flying Fish consignment at the 2021 OBS Spring Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5.  watch her under tack video

Victoriam Farm LLC’s Stone Silent (Adios Charlie – Travelator) pressed the pace from the rail in Sunday’s $120,000 Captiva Island Stakes at Gulfstream, took the lead a sixteenth from home and was best by half a length. That’s three straight stakes wins for the 4-year-old Florida-bred filly by Adios Charlie, consigned by Ocala Stud, Agent, to the 2022 OBS March Sale, and sold for $410,000 after working an Under Tack quarter in :20 2/5.
