Mike Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman’s Speed Boat Beach pressed the pace in Sunday’s $101,500 Cecil B. DeMille Stakes (G3) at Del Mar, took a short lead a quarter mile out and held on gamely to score by half a length. Fellow OBS graduate First Peace (June ’22) checked in third. It’s the second stakes win for the 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Bayern, bred by Richard Heysek at Caperlane Farm, a two-time OBS graduate. He was sold by Stuart Morris, Agent, at the 2021 October Yearling Sale, then sped an Under Tack eighth in :9 3/5 and was purchased for $200,000 out of the Really and Truly Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2022 March Sale. Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC and Willis Horton Racing LLC’s millionaire Bankit was much the best in Sunday’s $121,250 New York Stallion Series Stakes at Aqueduct, taking command on the turn and cruising from there to a 3-1/4 length victory. That’s seven stakes wins for the graded stakes placed 6-year-old son of Central Banker, consigned to the 2018 OBS March Sale by SGV Thoroughbreds LLC (Steven Venosa), Agent, where he breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before he was purchased by Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC for $260,000. Lea Farms, LLC’s Super Chow went right to the front in Saturday’s $100,000 Inaugural Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs, turned back a challenge in the stretch and drew away to a 2-1/2 length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Dreaming of Kona (June ’22) settled for third. It’s the third straight win for the graded stakes placed 2-year-old colt by Lord Nelson, purchased for $75,000 out of the Eisaman Equine consignment at the 2022 OBS Spring Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show.
