Funeral arrangements have been set for noted horseman James “J.J.” Crupi. Visitation will be at Blessed Trinity Church, 5 SE 17th St, Ocala, on Friday, May 31st from 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass be will be held Saturday, June 1st at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, at 9:30 a.m. Internment at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens in Ocala will follow immediately.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Monday, June 10th at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company auditorium, 1701 S.W. 60th Avenue, Ocala FL, 34474 at 4:30 p.m.
James “J.J.” Crupi, who passed away on Thursday, May 23rd at the age of 79, enjoyed a long, distinguished career in the thoroughbred industry. After spending years successfully training horses in the Northeast, he came to Ocala in 1995 and established Crupi’s New Castle Training Center, where he was responsible for developing many top class horses, both for the races and sales ring. Notable among them were Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming and Breeders’ Cup winner Liam’s Map. A long-time OBS shareholder, he sold numerous graded stakes winners at OBS venues including Engage, Madefromlucky and Untrapped.
