Ride a Comet wins Del Mar Derby

John C. Oxley and My Meadowview Farm LLC’s Ride a Comet circled horses on the turn to reach contention in Sunday’s $252,415 Del Mar Derby (G2), closed strongly to take over in deep stretch and scored by a length and a half. It’s the first graded stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Candy Ride (ARG), trained by Mark Casse, now 10-5-0-1 with earnings of $305,856. Consigned by Flying Fish, Agent to the 2017 OBS April Sale, he was sold for $375,000 after turning in an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Michael Langford’s Limation tracked the leader in the early going of the $300,000 Super Derby (G3) on Sunday at Louisiana Downs, took over in the lane and drew off to a 5-1/2 length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Alternation, purchased for $100,000 out of the Bobby Dodd consignment at the 2017 OBS April Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Trained by Steve Asmussen, he’s now 8-3-0-3 and has earned $272,950 to date. watch his under tack video
