OBS graduates made themselves right at home at Indiana Grand Race Course on Saturday, capturing both the Indiana Derby (G3) and Indiana Oaks (G3).

Slam Dunk Racing’s Axelrod was well off the pace in the early going of the $500,000 Indiana Derby (G3) but swept into contention on the turn and then closed steadily down the stretch and was up at the wire to win by a head. It’s the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old Florida-bred son of Warrior’s Reward, second last time out in the Affirmed Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita. Trained by Mike McCarthy, he’s now 8-3-1-1 and has earned $360,925. Consigned by Bobby Jones Equine to the 2016 OBS Winter Mixed Sale, he was sold to Slam Dunk for $25,000.

Team Valor International, Rodolphe Brisset and Stephen McKay’s Talk Veuve to Me was an overwhelming favorite in the $200,000 Indiana Oaks off her second in the Acorn (G1) in June and did not disappoint, taking over under a hold on the turn and galloping to an easy 4-3/4 length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Kelly’s Humor (August ’16) checked in third. It’s the first stakes score for the 3-year-old daughter of Violence, consigned by RiceHorse Stables, Agent, to the 2017 OBS March Sales where she turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Pines Stables, John J. Irwin, Paul Zysset and Sam F. Arci’s Maiden Beauty made her debut in the $100,000 Lynbrook Stakes at Belmont Park and will be skipping the maiden ranks from here on in after coming from off the pace, taking the lead a sixteenth from home and cruising to a 3-1/4 length victory. Trained by Gary Contessa, the 2-year-old filly by Revolutionary earned $60,000 for her effort. A. Hill Stable’s Majestic Dunhill is two for two this year after leading a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Monmouth’s $63,300 My Frenchman Stakes on Saturday. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old gelding by Majesticperfection, who shook loose from traffic in the stretch to outfinish fellow OBS graduate Like What I See (October ’15) by a length and a half with Reed Kan (August ’16) a neck back in third. He’s now 7-3-0-2 with earnings of $131,795 for trainer George Weaver, who purchased him for $100,000 from SGV Thoroughbreds (Steven Venosa), Agent, at the 2017 OBS March Sale after he sped a quarter in :21 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

William and Corrine Heiligbrodt’s Atchata is two for three and a stakes winner after taking the lead at the start of the filly division of the $75,000 D.S. Shine Young Futurity on Friday night at Evangeline Downs and never looking back en route to a 6-1/2 length victory. The 2-year-old filly by Apriority is now 3-2-0-1 for trainer Steve Asmussen and has earned $100,000 to date. Ltd.’s Apalachee Bay stepped into stakes company for the first time in the $51,960 Count Latham Handicap at Northlands Park and led every step of the way, drawing off in the stretch to a five length victory. The 3-year-old son of Malibu Moon turned in an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5 before he was purchased for $140,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2017 OBS June Sale.
