Allen Racing LLC and Bloom Racing Stable LLC’s Midnight Bisou broke her maiden in style at Santa Anita on Sunday, stalking the pace in the $201,035 Santa Ynez Stakes (G2),taking over from fellow OBS graduate Steph Being Steph (April ’17) inside the eighth pole, then drawing off to beat her to the wire by 4-1/2 lengths. The 3-year-old daughter of Midnight Lute, trained by Bill Spawr, is now 3-1-2-0 with $150,000 in earnings. She was purchased by Jeffrey Bloom for $80,000 out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2017 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Derek Chin’s Piven rallied to take charge of Saturday’s $75,000 Limehouse Stakes at Gulfstream Park a furlong from home, then smartly drew off to his first stakes victory by four lengths. Fellow OBS graduate Empire Power (June ’17) checked in third. It’s the first stakes score for the two-time OBS graduate, sold by Turtle Pond Farm, Agent, at the 2015 Fall Mixed Sale and then resold to Mr. Chin for $75,000 by SBM Training & Sales, Agent, at the 2017 April Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5.
