Michael Dubb, Bethlehem Stables LLC and Michael Imperio’s Bonita Bianca trailed in the early going of Saturday’s $75,000 New York Oaks at Finger Lakes, but closed with a rush down the stretch and was up in the final yards to win by a neck. Ltd.’s Alliford Bay tracked the leaders in Saturday’s $74,150 California Governor’s Cup Handicap at Sacramento into the final furlong, then took the lead late and scored by three quarters of a length. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old filly by City Zip, sold for $150,000 by Eisaman Equine, Agent, at the 2016 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Chris Wilkins’ Wilbo picked up his first stakes win on Saturday at Ellis Park, rallying from off the pace and charging past fellow OBS graduate Manhattan Mischief (April ’13) in deep stretch, winning by half a length. It’s the second win in six starts this year for the 5-year-old graded stakes placed son of Candy Ride (ARG), trained by Chris Hartman, now 20-7-3-5 with $332,396 in earnings.
