Kobe’s Back (March ’13) rallied from last for third. It’s the fifth stakes victory for the two-time OBS graduate, a 4-year-old Florida-bred colt by Munnings. He was sold to Nick de Meric, Agent, at the 2013 August Selected Yearling Sale prior to his purchase by Mr. Lenci for $71,000 out of the de Meric Sales consignment at the 2014 April Sale after an Under Tack Quarter in :21 1/5. Gelfenstein Farm’s Sharp Azteca tracked the pace in the early going of Churchill’s $250,000 Pat Day Mile Stakes (G3), took charge turning for home, opened a long lead in mid-stretch then coasted to a 2-1/2 length victory over fellow OBS graduate Forevamo (April ’15), who rallied from far behind to be second. It’s the third straight win and first stakes score for the 3-year-old son of Freud, trained by Jorge Navarro, now 5-3-1-0 with $196,250 in earnings. Main Line Racing Stable and Joshtylane Farm’s Miss Inclusive, a 3-year-old daughter of Include, tried stakes company for the first time in Saturday’s $101,000 Parx Oaks, tracked the leader into the stretch and wore her down in the final yards to win by half a length. Trained by John Servis, her first blacktype victory leaves her with a 6-3-0-2 record and $123,750 in earnings. Thoroughbred Champions Training Center LLC’s Copingaway picked up his first stakes victory in Saturday’s $75,000 English Channel Stakes on the turf at Gulfstream, rallying from off the pace, striking the front a furlong from home and scoring by a length and a half. The 3-year-old colt by Brother Derek was consigned to the 2015 OBS June Sale, where he breezed an eighth in :10 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. Zayat Stables’ King Kranz got the weekend off and running on Friday in Belmont’s $100,000 Gold Fever Stakes, circling horses on the turn, coming between horses in the stretch and getting up in the final sixteenth to win by three quarters of a length. It’s the second stakes win for the graded stakes placed 3-year-old year-old colt by Munnings, trained by John Terranova, now 10-2-3-3 with earnings of $284,490.
