The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 June Two Year Olds and Horses of Racing Age Sale begins a four day run on Tuesday, June 16th. Hip No.’s 1- 286 will be offered at the sale’s opening session. Hip No.’s 287 – 572 sell on Wednesday, Hip No.’s 573 – 858 sell Thursday and Hip No.’s 859 – 1166 on Friday. All four sessions begin at 10:30 a.m.
There are 1, 115 two-year-olds and 49 older horses cataloged, including one older horse and 32 two year olds added in the supplemental catalog. The sale will be streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com, the Blood-Horse and DRF websites.
The June Sale has grown in size and importance in recent years, a reflection of the success of its graduates. Goldencents, back to back winner of the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) is a June graduate as is reigning Florida-bred Horse of the Year Wildcat Red. Multiple graded stakes winner Avanzare is a 2012 June graduate. Graded winner Sarah Sis is one of a growing roster of stakes winners to emerge from the 2014 sale, a list including Academy Bay, Ackeret, Arctic Ocean, Celestine, Charlie’s Brother, Concealedwithakiss, Devine Aida, Golden Actor, It’s Not Me, Kingsport, Strict Compliance and Supreme Justice.
Honors for the Under Tack Show’s fastest three eighths breeze by a two year old went to Hip No 1014, The Tx Mex Is Cool, consigned by Blue River Bloodstock, Agent, who worked three eighths in :32 4/5 on Saturday. She’s a chestnut filly by Cool Coal Man out of Te for Texas, by Teton Forest, a half sister to stakes placed Gone Dixie.
Six horses shared honors for the Under Tack Show’s fastest quarter, clocked in :20 3/5.
The first came at Tuesday’s session by Hip No. 286, a gray or roan colt by Bob and John consigned by McKathan Bros., Agent, out of Driven, by Forestry, and is a half brother to stakes placed Glamoride.
Hip No. 509 worked :20 3/5 on Wednesday, a bay colt by Into Mischief consigned by Thoroughbred Champions Training Center LLC, out of Kiss the King, by Roman Ruler, a half sister to graded stakes placed stakes winner As You Like.
On Friday, it was Hip No. 925, Spectacular Vow, a daughter of Broken Vow consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), a dark bay or brown filly out of graded stakes winner Spectacular Moon, by Migrating Moon.
There were three on Saturday. Hip No. 1024, a bay filly by Awesome of Course consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, out of The Church Lady, by Valid Wager, and a half sister to stakes winner Sheyenne Girl; Hip No. 1067, a half brother to graded stakes winner Twice as Bad, is a gray or roan colt by Discreet Cat out of Two Bad Girls, by Diablo, consigned by Jet Set Equine Sales, Agent: Hip No. 1161, Shupanga, a bay colt by Pioneerof the Nile consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, out of Shamoiselle, by Doneraile Court, a half sister to graded stakes winner Sham Francisco.
The sale’s fastest half mile work by a juvenile was turned in on Saturday by Hip No. 676, a bay filly by U S Ranger consigned by 30-30 Ranch, Agent, timed in :46 3/5. She’s out of One Act Kid, by Lemon Drop Kid, from the family of grade one winner Vaudeville.
Sixteen youngsters sped eighths in :9 4/5 during the six Under Tack sessions. The Horses of Racing age section was led by Hip No. 1114, Altar Boy, a 3-year-old bay colt by Ready’s Image consigned by Woodside Ranch, Agent, who breezed three eighths in :32 flat. He’s out of stakes placed Love You Crazy, by Touch Gold, a half sister to stakes placed Sacred Ground.
Honors for the fastest half by an older horse went to Hip No. 1102, Boomerang Toy, a 3-year-old bay colt by A. P. Warrior consigned by 30-30 Ranch who worked the distance in :45 1/5. He’s out of Duty With Pay, by Act of Duty, from the family of graded stakes winner Ice Cool.
