Tiz the Law filly tops OBS June opener

Hip 187, a daughter of Tiz the Law consigned by Tom McCrocklin, Agent, went to Bill Childs for $400,000 to top the first session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2024 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age. The dark bay or brown filly, whose quarter in :20 2/5 at Wednesday’s Under Tack session was the sale’s co-fastest at the distance, is a half sister to grade one stakes placed stakes winner Esplanande, out of Southern Silence, by Dixie Union.  walk/breeze video

  • Hip 25, a daughter of Authentic consigned by Pick View LLC, Agent, was purchased by Legion Bloodstock, Agent, for $250,000. The dark bay or brown filly, who breezed an eighth in :10 2/5 on Tuesday, is out of stakes placed Party Starter, by Medaglia d’Oro, a daughter of grade one stakes winner Speeding Star. walk/breeze video

  • Hip 334, a son of Practical Joke consigned by Scanlon Training & Sales, Agent, was purchased for $210,000 by Joseph W. Sutton.   • R. Otto Stables, Inc. went to $150,000 for Hip 345, a daughter of Tiz the Law who turned in an Under Tack eighth on Wednesday in :10 2/5.   • HRH Prince Saud Bin Salman Bin Aboulaziz paid $120,000 for Hip 284, a son of Maximum Security consigned by Ordonez Thoroughbreds, Agent. The bay colt, whose eighth in :10 flat was Wednesday’s co-fastest, is out of Tiz Josselyn, by Tizow, a half sister to grade one stakes placed Miss Norman.  walk/breeze video

For the session, 173 horses brought a total of $6,825,500 compared with 225 selling for a total of $8,047,900 at last year’s opening session. The average price was $39,454, compared to $35,768 in 2023 while the median price was $21,000, compared with $20,000 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 33.2%; it was 15.4% last year.

The June Sale continues Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Hip No.’s 351 – 700 will be offered for sale. As always, the session will be streamed live on the OBS website at obssales.com and YouTube, as well as via the Blood-Horse, Daily Racing Form, TDN and Past The Wire websites.
