Shining Stables LLC’s Batucada (Union Rags – Lady Pamela) led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Saturday’s $75,000 Powder Break Stakes at Gulfstream Park. Well back in the early going, the 4-year-old Union Rags filly swung wide for the drive, took command a furlong out and won by 6-1/4 lengths. Fellow OBS graduate Jan’s Girl (Palace – Partyinthepaddock) rallied for second and Angel Nadeshiko (Carpe Diem – Cianchetta) settled for third. Trained by Saffie Joseph, Jr., her second straight win and first stakes victory leaves Batucada with a 13-5-0-1 record and $211,663 in earnings. Consigned by Omega Farm, Agent, to the 2022 OBS March Sale, she was sold for $150,000 after turning in an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5.  watch her under tack video

It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old son of Cupid, who captured Woodbine’s Summer Stakes (G1) at two. At the 2023 OBS Spring Sale, he breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 and was purchased for $170,000 out of the Randy Mills consignment. Ironhorse Racing Stable LLC’s Beauty of the Sea (Bucchero – Belong To Sea) scored by a length and a quarter in the $106,000 Goldwood Stakes at Monmouth on Saturday. After saving ground early, the 4-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Bucchero steadied after hitting the rail leaving the chute, found room in the stretch, took over late and won going away. Trained by Joe Orseno, her second stakes victory leaves her with a 10-5-2-0 career record and $244,410 in earnings. She was consigned to the 2022 OBS June Sale by Omar Ramirez Bloodstock and went through the ring after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5.  watch her under tack video
