Joey Freshwater takes the Runhappy Stakes

Winning Move Stable’s Joey Freshwater sat just off the pace in Saturday’s $175,000 Runhappy Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct, grabbed the lead inside the final furlong then held off a late charge to win by a neck. It’s the second graded stakes victory for the 4-year-old colt by Jimmy Creed, trained by Linda Rice, now 16-6-2-2 with $480,780 in earnings. Gabladon (RyanThompson)

Soldi Stable LLC’s Gabaldon (Gone Astray – Valuable Miss) is on his way to Royal Ascot after a front-running 1-1/4 length victory in his debut on Saturday in the $110,000 Royal Palm Juvenile Stakes at Gulfstream Park.  Consigned by Get Away Farm, Agent, to the 2023 OBS October Yearling Sale, the 2-year-old Florida-bred son of Gone Astray was purchased by Soldi Stables LLC for $9,000. Trained by Jose Francisco D’Angelo, he has earned $57,500 and a trip to Ascot.

Winngate Stables LLC’s Kathleen O. was last of five in Sunday’s $100,000 Serena’s Song Stakes at Monmouth Park, but swung out for the drive, ran past the leaders in the lane and was best by three-quarters at the wire. Trained by Shug McGaughey, the multiple graded stakes winning 5-year-old daughter of Upstart has compiled a 12-5-3-0 career record and earned $570,635. She’s a two-time OBS graduate, sold by Stuart Morris at the 2020 Fall Mixed Sale, then purchased for $275,000 out of the Niall Brennan Stables consignment at the 2021 Spring Sale after working an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5.  watch her under tack video     Spring Sale walking video

Hronis Racing LLC’s Tapalo (Tapiture – Agent Romanoff) went right to the lead at the start of Sunday’s $100,000 Lazaro Barrera Stakes at Santa Anita and never looked back en route to a seven length victory, with fellow OBS graduate Tessuto (Munnings – Cayman Croc) checking in third. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old son of Tapiture, a two-time OBS graduate, sold by Stuart Morris at the 2022 Winter Mixed Sale, then purchased or $55,000 out of the Jose Munoz consignment at the 2023 March Sale after speeding an Under Tack quarter in :21 flat.
