Mystic Lake wins Tampa’s Stonehedge Farm Sophomore Fillies Stakes

Mystic Lake (Mo Town – Salty Soul) went right to the lead in the $110,000 Stonehedge Farm Sophomore Fillies Stakes, set a comfortable pace, then drew away down the stretch to win in hand by 3-1/2 lengths. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Mo Town. She’s a two-time OBS graduate, sold by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, at the 2022 October Yearling Sale and then purchased for $130,000 out of the Tom McCrocklin consignment at the 2023 March Sale after breezing an Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5. A pair of OBS grads scored in Saturday Stakes at Fair Grounds

Team Hanley, Richard Schermerhorn and Paul Braverman’s I’m Very Busy (Cloud Computing – Two Kisses) captured his first stakes victory in the $300,000 Muniz Memorial Classic Stakes (G2). Far back in the early going, the 4-year-old son of Cloud Computing swung wide turning for home, took charge a sixteenth from home and scored by 3-3/4 lengths. Fellow OBS graduate Webslinger (Constitution – Arana) checked in third. Trained by Chad Brown, the win leaves him with a 9-3-3-1 record and $590,450 in earnings. Hat Racing LLC’s Brian’s Iron Mike (Iron Fist – Hildegarde), second in the 2023 Costa Rising Stakes at Fair Grounds, returned for the 2024 renewal, circled the field from the rear and was best by 2-1/2 lengths at the wire. That’s two stakes wins for the 5-year-old son of Iron Fist, trained by Allen Landry, now 18-5-5-2 with earnings of $281,500.  At the 2021 OBS Spring Sale, he was purchased for $15,000 out of the Grassroots Training & Sales consignment after an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. watch his under tack video   Spring Sale walking video

Three OBS grads took stakes at Turfway Park on Saturday

Magic Oaks’ Dana’s Beauty (Not This Time – City Siren) took the $250,000 Latonia Stakes in frontrunning style, taking the lead at the start and never looking back en route to a 2-3/4 length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the 6-year-old mare by Not This Time, trained by Joe Sharp, now 37-8-4-8 with $428,167 in earnings. She’s a two-time OBS graduate, sold first by Bobby Jones Equine at the 2019 October Yearling Sale then sold for $70,000 by Blue River Bloodstock, Agent, at the 2020 Spring Sale after working an Under Tack quarter in :21 3/5. watch her under tack video  

Yutaka Enterprises Corp.’s Okiro (Yoshida (JPN) – She Hung The Moon) was off a bit slowly in the $230,000 Animal Kingdom Stakes, rallied to go after the leaders in the lane, took charge inside the final eighth and eased away to a 2-1/2 length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old son of Yoshida (JPN), consigned by Skies Thoroughbreds, Agent, to the 2023 March Sale, and sold for $25,000 after breezing an eighth in:10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Amerman Racing LLC’s Trikari (Oscar Performance – Dynamic Holiday) stalked the leaders in the early going of the $250,000 Rushaway Stakes, battled head and head down the stretch, and was best by a neck at the finish. Graham Motion trains the 3-year-old colt by Oscar Performance, now 4-2-1-0 with $199,790 in earnings.
