Beeline best in Gulfstream’s Hutcheson

Vintage Thoroughbreds LLC, Scott Estes and Brian Hanley’s Beeline (Bee Jersey – Secretariat Humor) is two for two and a stakes winner after taking Gulfstream’s $120,000 Hutcheson Stakes on Saturday. The 3-year-old colt by Bee Jersey took charge at the start, surrendered the lead at the head of the stretch, regained it a furlong out and was best by a nose at the wire, with fellow OBS graduate Patriot Spirit (Constitution – Mistical Plan) checking in third.  Trained by Riley Mott, Beeline has earned $102,760. At the 2023 OBS June Sale, he sped a quarter in :21 2/5 at the Under Tack Show and was purchased for $70,000 by Bradley Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent, out of the Eddie Woods consignment.  watch his under tack video

A pair of Grassroots Training and Sales alumni scored stakes victories on Saturday at Oaklawn Park.

West Point Thoroughbreds’ Jaxon Traveler (Munnings – Listen Boy) stalked the leaders in the $250,000 Whitmore Stakes (G3), battled to the front inside the furlong pole and gamely scored by a nose. That’s seven stakes wins for the 6-year-old son of Munnings, trained by Steve Asmussen, now 29-9-7-5 with $891,849 earnings.  After breezing an Under Tack eighth in:10 flat at the 2020 OBS Spring Sale, he was purchased for $140,000 out of the Grassroots Training & Sales consignment by L.E.B., Agent for West Point Thoroughbreds, Inc. watch his under tack video   Spring Sale walking video

Randy Patterson, Sam M. Vogel, and Randy L. Morse’s Asternia (Astern (AUS) – La Chepis) wasup close early in the $200,000 Purple Martin Stakes, went after the leaders on the turn, took over in the stretch and drew off to win by 5-1/4 lengths. It’s the first stakes for the 3-year-old filly by Astern (AUS), consigned by Grassroots Training and Sales to the2023 OBS Spring Sale and sold for $90,000 after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Antonio of Venice (Chelsea Durand)

Michael Imperio, Robert Cotrone, Hibiscus Stables LLC and Rudy R. Rodriguez’ Antonio of Venice (Laoban – Stella Performance) shot to lead in the $100,000 Damon Runyon Stakes and kept on going, galloping in hand to a 9-1/4 length victory. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Laoban, who breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 at the 2023 OBS March Sale and was purchased for $35,000 out of the Longoria Training & Sales consignment. Sweet Brown Sugar (Chelsea Durand)

Richie Rich Racing Stable’s Sweet Brown Sugar (Collected – Rachel’s Blue Moon) just off the leaders while saving ground in the $100,000 East View Stakes, took command on the turn and eased away down the stretch en route to a four-length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of OBS graduate Collected, trained by Paul Barrow, now 6-4-0-1 with $150,500 in earnings. Consigned by Scenic Sales to the 2023 OBS June Sale, she was purchased for $32,000 by Nick J.
