C2 Racing Stable LLC and Stefania Farms, LLC’s Mystic Lake (Mo Town – Salty Soul) overcame a rough start to take the early lead in Saturday’s $50,000 Gasparilla Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs, set the pace, refused to yield and held on gamely to score by three quarters of a length. It’s the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Mo Town, third in Woodbine’s Mazarine Stakes (G3) in her final start at two. Now 5-2-1-1 for trainer Saffie A. Joseph, Jr., she has earned $117,446 to date.
