A trio of Classic contenders leads a large contingent of OBS graduates to the Breeders Cup

Three OBS graduates will go in the $6,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1)
C2 Racing Stable LLC and La Milagrosa Stable, LLC’s White Abarrio (Race Day – Catching Diamonds) has trained up to the race off a dominating victory in Saratoga’s Whitney Stakes (G1). It was the second grade one victory for the 4-year-old colt by Race Day, winner of the Florida Derby (G1) at three. He’s a two-time OBS graduate, sold by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, at the 2020 Winter Mixed Sale and then purchased for $40,000 out of the Nice and Easy Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2021 March Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. Trained by Richard E. Dutrow, Jr., he has compiled a 14-6-1-3 career record and earned $1,826,350. FMQ Stables’ Saudi Crown (Always Dreaming – New Narration) comes into the Classic off a victory in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1). It was the first stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Always Dreaming, following a pair of near misses in graded stakes company. Now 5-3-2-0 for trainer Brad Cox, he has earned $817,085. Zedan Racing Stables, Inc.’s Arabian Knight (Uncle Mo – Borealis Night) punched his ticket to the Classic with a victory in Del Mar’s Pacific Classic Stakes (G1), his second graded stakes win. The 3-year-old colt by Uncle Mo was purchased by Gary Young on behalf of Zedan Racing for a sale-topping $2.3-million out of the Top Line Sales consignment at the 2022 OBS Spring Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. Wathnan Racing’s Crimson Advocate has trained up to the race since her victory in the Queen Mary Stakes (G2) at Ascot in June. The 2-year-old daughter of Nyquist was purchased for $100,000 out of the Beth Bayer consignment at the 2022 October Selected Yearling Sale. A two-time stakes winner, she’s now 3-2-0-1 with earnings of $138,047 for trainer George Weaver. Altamira Racing Stable, Halona PH, LLC and Nirvana Farm LLC’s lightly raced Esprit Enchante (Tapit – Enchanted Ghost) is the lone OBS entrant in the $2-million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).  A winner of her last start for trainer Peter Miller, she’s now 2-1-0-0 and earned $38,240. Three Diamonds Farm’s Buttercream Babe (Twirling Candy – Runway Ready) comes in off a narrow defeat in the recent Surfer Girl Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita. The lightly raced filly, trained by Mike Maker, will be ridden from the rail by Luis Saez. Daniel Alonso’s Skippylongstocking (Exaggerator – Twinkling) carries the OBS banner in Saturday’s $1-million Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1). The 4-year-old colt by Exaggerator is a four-time graded stakes winner, the latest a five-length victory in the Charles Town Classic (G2). That’s four graded stakes wins for the 4-year-old colt by Exaggerator, now 19-6-2-3 with $1,504,185 in earnings for trainer Saffie A. Joseph, Jr.  He has drawn post six and will be ridden by Tyler Gaffalione. After putting a seven-race win streak together dating back to 2021, the 4-year-old multiple graded stakes winning daughter of Munnings comes in off a third place finish in the recent Chillingworth Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita. LRE Racing LLC and JEH Racing LLC’s venerable Casa Creed (Jimmy Creed – Achalaya) comes into the Mile after taking Saratoga’s Fourstardave Handicap (G1) for the second straight year.  A six-time grade one stakes winner, he has compiled a 33-9-5-5 career record and earned $2,460,308 since he was sold for $15,000 out of the Janie Roper consignment at the 2017 OBS Winter Mixed Sale. Trainer Bill Mott has named Luis Saez to ride from post three.
