West Point Thoroughbreds and David Ingordo’s Northern Invader (Collected – Androeah), up close early in Friday’s $135,000 Gio Ponti Stakes at Aqueduct, took over halfway out, drew clear in the stretch and eased home to score by a length. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old son of Collected, purchased for $310,000 out of the SGV Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2022 OBS March Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Contreras Stable Inc. and Andrew Knapczyk’s Bluelightspecial (Super Saver – Maddy’s Way) took over on the backstretch after prompting the pace in Wednesday’s $150,000 Cardinal Handicap at Horseshoe Indianapolis. The 3-year-old daughter of Super Saver was in control from there and pulled away late to win by a length and a quarter. Trained by Cipriano Contreras, she’s a two-time stakes winner, compiled a 14-6-2-3 career record and earned $373,575. Patricia’s Hope LLC’s Back to Ohio (Midshipman – Sheza Runaway Star) racked up her seventh win out of eight starts with a half length victory in the $75,000 Scarlet and Gray Stakes at Thistledown on Thursday. A five-time stakes winner, the 3-year-old daughter of Midshipman was consigned to the 2022 OBS Spring Sale by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, and sold for $385,000 after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5.
