Adare Manor romps in Santa Anita’s Zenyatta Stakes

OBS grads posted a pair of graded stakes wins at Santa Anita over the weekend.

Michael Lund Petersen’s Adare Manor (Uncle Mo – Brooklynsway) took the lead at the start of the $200,000 Zenyatta Stakes (G2) on Sunday and was never headed, galloping to an easy 5-1/4 length victory.  OBS October ’20 graduate Desert Dawn (Cupid – Ashley’s Glory) was second; two-time OBS graduate (April ’21, October ’20) Micro Share (Upstart–Who’sbeeninmybed) checked in third. That’s five straight wins for the 4-year-old daughter of Uncle Mo, purchased for $375,000 out of the Julie Davies consignment at the 2021 OBS June Sale by Donato Lanni, Agent, after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Trained by Bob Baffert, she’s a five-time graded stakes winner, compiled a 13-7-4-0 career record and earned $981,600.  watch her under tack video

MyRacehorse’s Lane Way (Into Mischief – Corderosa) stalked the pace in Saturday’s $200,000 Eddie D. Stakes (G2), went after leaders after turning for home and was best by half a length at the wire. It’s the first graded stakes victory for the 6-year-old son of Into Mischief, consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, to the 2019 OBS March Sale and sold for $550,000 after breezing an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5. Now 19-5-6-5 for trainer Richard Mandella, he has earned $490,560 to date.  watch his under tack video

Ironhorse Racing Stable LLC and Harlow Stables LLC’s Mattingly (Bucchero – Battingstar) led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of the $90,000 Hollywood Beach Stakes on Saturday at Gulfstream, pressing the pace, taking charge a furlong out and scoring by a length and a quarter.  March Sale graduate Okiro (Yoshida (Jpn) – She Hung the Moon) rallied for second with October and March Sale graduate Esperon (Chitu – Satan’s Mistress) settling for third. Joe Orseno trains the 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Bucchero, now 4-2-2-0 with $147,028 in earnings. Flurry Racing Stables LLC’s Interstatedaydream (Classic Empire – Babcock) scored her fourth stakes win in the $100,000 Twixt Stakes at Laurel on Saturday, overcoming a slow start, rallying between horses on the turn, taking the lead a sixteenth from home and winning by 2-1/2 lengths. The graded stakes winning 3-year-old filly by Classic Empire was purchased for $175,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2021 OBS Spring Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5.
