Du Jour wins the Del Mar Mile Stakes

Natalie J. Baffert and Debbie Lanni’s Du Jour (Temple City – Guiltless) relaxed off the pace in the early going of Saturday’s $310,500 Del Mar Mile Stakes (G2), came out turning for home, caught the leaders a furlong out and drew away to win by 2-1/4 lengths. It’s the second graded stakes victory for the 5-year-old son of Temple City, trained by Bob Baffert, now 15-5-3-2 with $918,220 in earnings. Petal Power Racing Stable’s Big Data (Cloud Computing – Moxie) stepped into stakes company for the first time in Saturday’s 200,000 Super Derby at Louisiana Downs. Three-wide early, the 3-year-old colt by Cloud Computing closed with a rush down the stretch and got up to score by three quarters of a length. Consigned to the 2022 OBS Spring Sale by Off the Hook, Agent, he went through the ring after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Graham Grace Stable’s Harlan Estate (Kantharos – Archerette) circled horses the turn to reach contention in Thursday’s $500,000 Tapit Stakes at Kentucky Downs, found room inside to take the lead at the eighth pole and eased away to win by a length and a quarter. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old graded stakes placed gelding by Kantharos, trained by D. Whitworth Beckman, now 24-5-6-1 with $547,618 in earnings. MyRacehorse and Spendthrift Farm LLC’s Micro Share (Upstart – Who’sbeeninmybed) saved ground early in the $130,000 Tranquility Lake Stakes on Monday at Del Mar, battled for the lead from the inside on the turn, took over a furlong from home and drew off late to score by 3-1/4 lengths. It’s the third straight win and first stakes victory for the 4-year-old daughter of Upstart, trained by Richard Mandella, leaving her with a 10-4-2-1 record and $217,240 in earnings.
