Jasper Krone scores second straight graded stakes win

Speed was the name of the game over the weekend as OBS graduates scored wire-to-wire wins in stakes from Florida to Canada and Japan.

Kazuo Kato’s Jasper Krone (Frosted – Fancy Kitten) captured his second straight graded stakes race in frontrunning style, holding off a late challenge to take Sunday’s $536,000 Kitakyushu Kinen Stakes (G3) at Kokura by half a length. Trained by Hideyuki Mori, the 4-year-old colt by Frosted is now 14-6-1-2 and has earned $986,554 to date. At the 2021 OBS March Sale, he was purchased for $90,000 out of the Kings Equine consignment after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. watch his under tack video

Averill Racing LLC, ATM Racing and Jayson R. Werth’s R Adios Jersey (Adios Charlie – Marion Theatre) took the lead at the start of Saturday’s $90,000 Sheer Drama Stakes at Gulfstream Park and never looked back, scoring by 6-1/4 lengths under wraps. OBS 2019 October Sale graduate Race Day Speed (Race Day – Tiz Worldly) checked in third.  It’s the fourth stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Adios Charlie, consigned by breeder Ocala Stud to the 2020 OBS March Sale, and sold to Averill Racing for $12,000 after breezing an Under Tack quarter in :22 3/5.  Trained by Georgina Baxter, she’s now 14-7-7-2 and has earned $373,245. watch her under tack video

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Gary Barber’s Golden Canary (Medaglia d’Oro – Black Canary) picked a good spot to break her maiden, taking the lead shortly after the start of Woodbine’s $96,567 Soaring Free Stakes on the King’s Plate undercard and gamely prevailing by neck at the wire.  Trained by Mark Casse, the 2-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, second in her only other start, has now earned $66,175. At the 2023 OBS Spring Sale, she breezed a quarter in :21 4/5 and was purchased for $175,000 out of the Hidden Brook consignment. watch her under tack video    Spring Sale walking video
