Fortune Racing LLC’s (al Maktoum) Candy Light relaxed off the pace in Monday’s $100,000 Tropical Park Oaks at Gulfstream, rallied on the outside down the stretch, took over late and was best by a length at the wire. It’s the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old filly by Candy Ride (ARG), trained by Graham Motion, now 11-3-4-1 with $248,268 in earnings. Oakwood Stables, Cheyenne Stable LLC and Christophe Clement’s Miss J McKay, well off the pace after being bumped at the start of Gulfstream’s $100,000 Abundantia Stakes on Christmas Eve, came out for the drive, caught the leaders a sixteenth out and scored by a length and a quarter. It’s the fourth stakes win for the 5-year-old daughter of Hangover Kid, who also captured the same race a year ago.
