Repole Stable’s Devious Mo pressed the pace early in the $200,000 New York Stallion Stakes, took charge on the turn and held off a late challenge to win by three quarters of a length. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Laoban, now 8-2-0-0 for trainer Rudy Rodriguez with earnings of $147,820. The two-time OBS graduate was sold by McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds LLC at the 2019 October Selected Yearling Sale and then purchased for $37,000 out of the Top Line Sales consignment at the 2020 July Sale. Robert LaPenta and Augustin Stable’s Hard Love sat just off the early lead in the $100,000 Woodhaven Stakes, took command a furlong from home and was best by a length and a quarter at the wire. Fellow OBS graduate Original (April ’20) settled for third after setting the pace. It’s the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old ridgling by Kitten’s Joy, consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, to the 2020 OBS Spring Sale and sold for $200,000 after turning in an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5.
