Robert E. and Lawana L. Low’s Colonel Liam relaxed off the early pace in Gulfstream’s $75,000 Tropical Park Derby on Saturday, circled horses on the turn to take command in the stretch and drew away to a 3-1/4 length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the lightly raced 3-year-old colt by Liam’s Map, who sped an Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5 before he was purchased for $1,200,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2019 OBS April Sale. Now 5-3-0-1 for trainer Todd Pletcher, he has earned $141,965 to date. watch his under tack video
Five Hellions Farm’s Dontletsweetfoolya went to the front at the start of Laurel’s $100,000 Willa On the Move Stakes and never looked back, turning away a challenge in the stretch and drawing off to score by 2-1/4 lengths. Fellow OBS graduate Malibu Mischief (April ’18) checked in third. That’s five straight stakes wins, the last two in stakes company, for the 3-year-old daughter of Stay Thirsty, trained by Lacey Gaudet, now 8-5-0-2 with $202,790 in earnings. At the 2019 OBS June Sale, she was purchased for $160,000 out of the Hemingway Racing & Training Stables consignment after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video
