Sower scores in Belmont’s Pumpkin Pie Stakes

Leonard C. Green’s Sower took the lead at the start of Sunday’s $100,000 Pumpkin Pie Stakes at Belmont Park and never looked back en route to a 5-1/4 length victory. It’s the second stakes win for the graded stakes placed 3-year-old filly by Flatter, purchased for $120,000 out of the Harris Training Center consignment at the 2017 OBS April Sale after she breezed an Under Tack eighth in : 10 1/5. Now 7-4-0-2 for trainer Linda Rice, she has earned $256,840 to date. watch her under tack video

Three Diamonds Farm and Joseph Besecker’s Dunph is two for two and a stakes winner pressing the pace in the $150,000 Spendthrift Juvenile Stallion Stakes on Sunday at Churchill Downs, taking command in the stretch and drawing away to a 7-3/4 length victory.  The 2-year-old gelding by Temple City, trained by Mike Maker, has earned $105,540. He turned in an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5 before he was purchased for $27,500 out of the Golden Rock Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2018 OBS March Sale. watch his under tack video
