Significant Form wins Belmont’s Miss Grillo Stakes

Stephanie Seymour Brant’s Significant Form picked a good spot to break her maiden, taking command of the $200,000 Miss Grillo Stakes (G3) on Sunday at Belmont a furlong from home and easing away to score by a length. It was the second trip to the post for the 2-year-old daughter of Creative Cause, who was disqualified from a victory in her debut although she finished first by a wide margin. After speeding an Under Tack quarter in :21 flat, she was purchased for $575,000 out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2017 OBS April Sale. Now 2-1-0-0 for trainer Chad Brown, she has earned $120,415 to date. watch her under tack video


Flurry Racing Stables LLC’s Mr. Misundertood rallied to take command of the $100,000 Jefferson Cup Stakes at Churchill Downs on Saturday passing the eighth pole and drew off from there to a 2-3/4 length victory over fellow OBS graduate Adonis Creed (April ’16). That’s two stakes wins in a row for the 3-year-old gelding by Archarcharch, consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, to the 2016 OBS March Sale, and sold for $130,000 after an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Trained by Brad Cox, he’s now 11-7-1-0 and has earned $304,554 to date. watch his under tack video

Cheyenne Stables LLC and Mac Nichol’s millionaire Madefromlucky tracked the leaders into the stretch of Sunday’s $200,000 Temperence Hill Invitational Stakes at Belmont, took the lead coming to the sixteenth pole and was best by three quarters of a length. That’s two straight stakes wins for the 5-year-old son of  Lookin At Lucky, trained by Todd Pletcher, now 24-6-5-5 earnings of $1,351,500. He was purchased by Mr. Nichol for $150,000 out of the Crupi’s New Castle Farm consignment at the 2014 OBS March Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show.  watch his under tack video

Starship Stables’ Starship Bonita scored her second straight stakes win at Gulfstream on Saturday, coming from off the pace to take the lead in the stretch and holding off a late charge by fellow OBS graduate Dessert Honeys (April ’17) to win the $400,000 FTBOA My Dear Girl Stakes by a neck. The two-time OBS graduate was sold by The Acorn LLC, Agent, at the 2016 Selected Yearling Sale before she was purchased for $72,000 out of the Whitman Sales consignment at the 2017 March Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth  in :10 flat. Anne D. Scott’s Galleon Mast ran off with his third straight stakes win on Saturday at Gulfstream, rallying to get up in the final yards to take the $75,000 Mr. Steele Stakes by half a length. Consigned to the 2015 OBS April Sale by Eddie Woods, Agent, he went through the ring after an Under Tack quarter in :22 flat. He’s five for nine this year for trainer David Fawkes, and is now 20-7-5-4 with $298,815 in earnings. watch his under tack video

Live Oak Plantation’s Let It Ride Mom was well back in the early going of Woodbine’s $100,000 La Lorgnette Stakes on Saturday, but she rallied wide on the turn, took the lead a furlong from home and held on gamely to win by a neck. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old filly by Into Mischief, consigned to the 2016 OBS March Sale by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, where she breezed an eighth in :9 4/5 before she  was purchased by Live Oak for $375,000. Trained by Mark Casse, she’s now 9-3-3-0 and has earned $187,106. watch her under tack video 

Granpollo Stable’s Dreaming of Gold took the lead at the start of Gulfstream’s $50,000 Bull and Whistle Handicap on Sunday and never looked back, cruising to victory by a length and a half. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Unbridled’s Song, sold for $220,000 by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, at the 2013 OBS August Selected Yearling Sale. BB Horses’ Afleet Willy led from gate to wire in the DTHA Governor’s Day Handicap at Delaware Park on Saturday, romping home by 5-3/4 lengths over fellow OBS graduate Twocubanbrothersu (June ’12, August ’11). Trained by Claudio Gonzalez, the 4-year-old gelding by Wilburn picked up his first stakes victory, improved his career record to 23-9-7-2, and boosted his bankroll to $307,735. At the Under Tack Show prior to the 2015 OBS June Sale, he breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 before he was purchased out of the Wavertree Stables consignment for $50,000. watch his under tack video
