Nikki My Darling takes the Queen City Oaks

Loooch Racing Stables, Inc. and Imaginary Stables’ Nikki My Darling took the lead at the start of the $75,000 Norm Barron Queen City Oaks at Belterra Park on Sunday and never looked back, drawing away late to beat fellow OBS graduate My Ticket Home (June ’16) by 6-1/2 lengths. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of Creative Cause, purchased for $100,000 out of the Tom McCrocklin consignment at the 2016 OBS March Sale after speeding a quarter in :21 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Michael Dubb, Bethlehem Stables LLC and Michael Imperio’s Bonita Bianca trailed in the early going of Saturday’s $75,000 New York Oaks at Finger Lakes, but closed with a rush down the stretch and was up in the final yards to win by a neck. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of Curlin, trained by Rudy Rodriguez, now 6-4-0-1 with $323,000 in earnings. Consigned by Dormellito Stud Sales to the 2016 OBS March Sale, she turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 3/5 before she was sold for $97,000. watch her under tack video

Peter Redekop B.C. Ltd.’s Alliford Bay tracked the leaders in Saturday’s $74,150 California Governor’s Cup Handicap at Sacramento into the final furlong, then took the lead late and scored by three quarters of a length. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old filly by City Zip, sold for $150,000 by Eisaman Equine, Agent, at the 2016 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show.  Unraced at two, she’s now 4-3-0-0 for trainer Blaine Wright, and has earned $75,850 to date. watch her under tack video

Chris Wilkins’ Wilbo picked up his first stakes win on Saturday at Ellis Park, rallying from off the pace and charging past fellow OBS graduate Manhattan Mischief (April ’13) in deep stretch, winning by half a length. It’s the second win in six starts this year for the 5-year-old graded stakes placed son of Candy Ride (ARG), trained by Chris Hartman, now 20-7-3-5 with $332,396 in earnings. After turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5, he was purchased for $120,000 out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2013 OBS April Sale. watch his under tack video
