Constellation wins Santa Anita’s La Brea; Mind Your Biscuits, Sharp Azteca one-two in Malibu

LNJ Foxwoods’ Constellation battled between horses for the early lead in Monday’s $301, 035 La Brea Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita, fell back in the stretch and then came again late and got up to win by half a length. It’s the first graded stakes victory for the daughter of Bellamy Road, and her fourth stakes win in her last five starts. Now trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, she’s 8-5-1-1 and has earned $479,464. She turned in an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5 before she was purchased for $800,000 out of the Northwest Stud consignment at the 2015 OBS March Sale.  watch her under tack video

J Stables, Head of Plains Partners LLC, Summer, Summers, Kisber and Summers’ Mind Your Biscuits sat off the pace in the early going of Santa Anita’s $301,380 Malibu Stakes (G1), then rallied to catch fellow OBS graduate Sharp Azteca (April ’15, August ’14)  in deep stretch and beat him by a half length. It’s the second graded stakes victory for the 3-year-old colt by Posse, who scored in Saratoga’s Amsterdam Stakes (G2) in July. Trained by Robert Falcone, Jr., he’s now 13-4-4-3 and has earned $675,366 to date. Consigned by SBM Training and Sales, Agent, to the 2015 OBS April Sale, he turned in an eighth in :10 3/5 at the Under Tack Show.  watch his under tack video

Gainesway Stable’s Danzatrice took control of the $50,000 Tiffany Lass Stakes at Fair Grounds on Monday at the quarter pole and ran away from there, drawing off in the lane to a 7-1/4 length victory. It’s the second stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Dunkirk, trained by Steve Asmussen, now 9-5-1-1- with earnings of $227,865. She was sold for $105,000 by Grassroots Training & Sales LLC at the 2014 OBS April Sale after she turned in an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video
