The Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2016 March Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training begins Wednesday, March 9th.
The Under Tack Show will span three days, beginning on Wednesday with Hips 1 – 204. Hips 205 – 408 will go Thursday, March 10th and Hips 409 – 613 will go Friday, March 11th. All three sessions will begin at 8:00 a.m. The Under Tack Show and Sale will be streamed live via the OBS website as well as the DRF and Blood-Horse websites.
A total of 613 juveniles were cataloged for the two-day sale, set for Tuesday and Wednesday, March 15th and 16th, with both sessions beginning at 11:00 a.m. Hip 1 – 306 will sell on Tuesday; Hips 307 – 613 will sell on Wednesday.
The OBS March Sale has long had a major impact the highest levels of the game, producing six champions, 23 millionaires and the winners of seven Breeders’ Cup races, the most recent a victory by catalog cover girl Stopchargingmaria in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1). She’s one of six March graduates accounting for grade one wins in 2015. Highlights of the past year included Carpe Diem’s victory in the Keeneland’s Blue Grass Stakes (G1), Secret Circle beating the world’s best sprinters in the Dubai Golden Shaheen (G1) and 2015 sale graduate Gomo scoring in the prestigious Alcibiades Stakes (G1) in the fall. Overseas, 2015 graduate Acapulco captured the Queen Mary Stakes (G2) at Ascot and followed that effort with a narrow defeat, finishing second against older horses in the Nunthorpe Stakes (G1) at York. Last week, 2014 graduate Moanin joined the millionaire ranks with a victory in the February Stakes (G1) at Tokyo Race Track.
Overall, since the beginning of 2015, March graduates have won or placed in 176 stakes races, accounting for 29 graded stakes wins.
