Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and Green Smith’s Wild Dude relaxed off the early pace in Sunday’s $300, 000 Bing Crosby Stakes (G1) at Del Mar, but came running in the stretch, charged past odds-on favorite Masochistic in the final yards and captured his first grade one race by a length and quarter. Fellow OBS graduate Kobe’s Back (March ’13), who lost all chance with a poor start, rallied to be third. It’s the third graded stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Wildcat Heir, now 16-6-3-4 with earnings of $724,887. A two-time OBS graduate, he was sold first by Perrone Sales, Agent, at the 2010 Fall Mixed Sale and then resold for $42,000 by Costanzo Sales after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 at the 2012 April Sale. Conquest Stables’ Conquest Pacemaker jumped into stakes company straight from a maiden win and handled the raise in class with ease, taking the lead at the start of Sunday’s $131,500 Toronto Cup Stakes at Woodbine and never looking back en route to a 1-1/2 length victory. The 3-year-old son of Eskendereya, trained by Mark Casse, is now 3-2-0-1 and has earned $88,984. A two time OBS graduate, he was sold by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2013 August Yearling Sale before he was purchased for $150,000 out of the Casse Sales LLC (Justin Casse) consignment at the 2014 March Sale after working an eighth in :10 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. Cheyenne Stables’ Stormy Regatta picked up her first stakes win on Sunday in the first division of $58,800 Little Silver Stakes on the turf at Monmouth Park. The 3-year-old daughter of Midshipman circled horses on the turn, reached the leaders in midstretch and fought her way to victory by a nose. Trained by Christophe Clement, she’s now 5-3-0-1 and has earned $84,200. Consigned by Santa Fe Thoroughbreds to the 2014 OBS June Sale, she breezed an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video
Riversedge Racing Stables LLC captured a pair of stakes with OBS graduates at Northlands Park over the weekend. On Friday, Bootleggers Wife scored her second win in as many starts, taking charge of Friday’s $55,500 Princess Margaret Stakes in the stretch and running off to an 11-3/4 length victory. The 2-year-old Florida-bred filly by Leroidesanimaux (BRZ) was sold for $55,000 by Strouds Lane Farm LLC at the 2013 Fall Mixed Sale. Trained by Tim Mycroft, she has earned $29,649 to date.
On Saturday Mycroft saddled Hold the Giant, also two for two, who stalked the leaders in the $50,000 Edmonton Juvenile Stakes, put them away in the stretch and drew off to win by two lengths. The 2-year-old colt by Hold Me Back was purchased for$25,000 out of the Top Line Sales consignment at the 2014 August Yearling Sale. He has earned $29,804.
