The dark bay or brown colt, whose quarter in :20 4/5 at Monday’s Under Tack session was the day’s co-fastest at the distance, is out of Antoinette, by Silver Hawk, and is a half brother to stakes placed Notassharpasuthink. The previous June mark was $525,000 for Conquest Top Gun, a stakes winning colt by Pioneerof the Nile, consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, and sold to Conquest Stables LLC in 2013.
Hip No. 118, a son of Pulpit consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent for Golden Legacy Stables, was purchased for $335,000 by Mersad Metanovic Bloodstock. The gray or roan colt, who worked an eighth in :10 flat last Monday, is out of stakes placed Beautiful Song, by Unbridled’s Song.
Hip No. 122, a son of Harlan’s Holiday consigned by Classic Bloodstock (Danzel Brendemuehl), Agent, went to Zayat Stables LLC, McKathan Bros., Agent, for $270,000. The bay colt, out of stakes placed Bees and a half sister to graded stakes winner Madison’s Charm, breezed an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show.
Hip No. 64, a bay colt by High Cotton consigned by Ocala Stud, was sold to Stonestreet Stables LLC & George Bolton for $220,000. Out of Alotofappeal, by Trippi, the half brother to stakes winner B C’s Train breezed a quarter in :20 4/5, co-fastest at Monday’s Under Tack session
Hip No. 286, a son of Bob and John whose quarter in :20 3/5 fastest at the distance at Tuesday’s Under Tack session went to Linda Rice, Agent, for A Shares Stable for $200,000. The gray or roan colt, consigned by McKathan Bros., Agent, is out of Driven, by Forestry, and is a half brother to sakes placed Glamoride.
Steven W. Young, Agent, went to $170,000 for Hip No. 21, a son of Malibu Moon consigned by Classic Bloodstock (Danzel Brendemuehl), Agent. The bay colt, who turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 on Monday, is out of graded stakes placed stakes winner Winning Season, by Lemon Drop Kid,
For the session, 136 horses grossed $5,039,100, compared with 177 selling for a total of $5,358,900 at last year’s first session. The average was $37,052, up from $30,276 in 2014, while the median price was $17,500 compared with $23,000 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 33%; it was 25.3% last year. Five horses brought $200,000 or more compared to two in last year’s opening session.
