The unraced 2-year-old bay colt, a full brother to champion OBS graduate Stardom Bound, breezed three eighths in :33 3/5 at Monday’s Under Tack Show. He’s out of graded stakes placed stakes winner My White Corvette, by Tarr Road.
Amy Tarrant went to $180,000 for Hip No. 554, an unraced daughter of Medaglia d’Oro whose three eighths in :32 3/5 was co-fastest at the distance at the Under Tack Show. Consigned by Gayle Woods, Agent, the dark bay or brown filly is out of Seeknfind, by Giant’s Causeway, a half sister to stakes winner Seeking the Dia.
Hip No. 561, a son of Arch consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, was sold to Jena Antonucci, Agent for Gallo Stable, for $75,000. The unraced 2-year-old bay colt, who worked an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5, is out of Star Dixie, by Dixie Union, from the family of stakes winner Rose Park.
Hip No. 530, a son of Tale of the Cat consigned by Julie Davies, Agent, was sold to Sallusto & Albina, Agent, for $65,000. The unraced 2-year-old chestnut colt, who worked a quarter in :21 2/5 at the Under Tack session, is out of Miss Fremont, by Rahy, from the family of grade one stakes winner Dixie Union..
Hip No. 503, Joe Tess, a stakes placed son of Macho Uno consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent for Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings LLC & George Bolton, went to Emerald Spring Stable for $55,000. The 4-year-old gelding is out of graded stakes placed Forty Moves, by Gold Fever.
Hip No. 558, a 2-year-old daughter of Concerto consigned by Ocala Stud, who worked the session’s fastest quarter in :20 2/5 was sold for $50,000 to Inversiones F. I. The unraced bay filly is out of stakes placed Siren Cove, by Montbrook, and is a half sister to stakes winner Puntrooskie.
For the Racing Age Section, 50 horses sold for a total of $1,308,500, averaging $26,170 with a $11,750 median figure. The buyback percentage was 27.5%. There was no corresponding session in 2013.
The Open Session topper was Hip No. 323, Moored, a daughter of Mr. Greeley consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, sold to Machmer Hall for $52,000. The 3-year-old bay mare, a half sister to graded stakes winner Western Smoke out of Echo Harbor, by Boston Harbor, is in foal to Crown of Thorns. Her 2-year-old half brother by Lookin At Lucky, One Lucky Dane, was a 9-1/2 length winner of a maiden special at Santa Anita on October 4th.
Hip No. 437, Circuit Breaker, consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, is a stakes placed mare by Yes It’s True, sold to Juan Centeno & Isidro Centeno for $28,000. The 11-year-old chestnut mare, in foal to New Year’s Day, is out of grade one winner Shocker T, by Nodouble.
Hip No. 365, a Discreetly Mine filly consigned by Triple L Sales, Agent, was sold to Etarip Stables, Inc. for $25,000. The bay weanling filly is out of Letha B, by Wild Rush, from the family of stakes winner Pretty Tricky.
For the Open session, 124 horses brought a total of $608,900, compared with 155 selling for a total of $1,508,100 in 2013. The average was $4,910, compared with $9,730 a year ago, median price was $3,000 compared with $5,200 last year. The buyback percentage was 31.5%; it was 16.7% a year ago.
Next on the OBS calendar is the OBS Championship Stakes, set for Tuesday, January 27th, 2015. The Winter Mixed Sale & Horses of Racing Age Section is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, January 28th – 29th. The Under Tack Show is set for Monday, January 26th at 10:00 a.m.
