B.J. Wright’s Jeranimo was last in the early going in Saturday’s $300, 000 Eddie Read Stakes (G1) at Del Mar but came flying in the lane, hit the front in deep stretch and was a length and a half length clear at the wire. It’s the second grade one win for the 7-year-old Florida-bred son of Congaree, sold for $50,000 by On Course Sales, Agent, at the 2007 OBS August Sale. The win gives him a 35-10-6-5- record and earnings of $1,400,864.
Thomas D. Shank and Stan Young’s Good Lord went to the lead in the $50,000 Don Bernhardt Stakes at Ellis Park on Saturday, turned back a challenge from fellow OBS graduate Right to Vote (March ’11) at the top of the stretch and went on to win by 3-1/4 lengths. Right to Vote settled for third. Winning the Don Bernhardt for the second straight year gives the 6-year-old Florida-bred son of Greatness six stakes wins, a 51-10-9-11 record and earnings of $536,564. Ywachetta H. Driver and James Travis’ Guns Loaded fought on the front end all the way in his debut in a $76,000 maiden special at Del Mar on Saturday before easing away in the final yards and scoring by a length and a half. The two-time OBS graduate was first sold by Equest Thoroughbreds, Inc. at the 2012 August Sale. Consigned by Welcome Gate Farm, Agent, to the 2013 April Sale, the 2-year-old colt by D’wildcat brought $175,000 after working a quarter in:21 flat at the Under Tack Show.
