The Under Tack Show for the new Horses of Racing Age section of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2012 Winter Mixed Sale is set for Monday, January 16th at 10:00 a.m. It’s a first for the Winter Mixed Sale, which begins a two day run on Tuesday.
There are 530 horses cataloged for the two day sale, with hip numbers 1-110 selling in Tuesday’s Consignor Preferred session, followed by numbers 111 – 264 in the new Horses of Racing Age section. Hip numbers 301 – 572 sell on Wednesday, January 18th in the Open Session. The sale begins each day at 11:00 a.m. Updates to the catalog may be viewed in a sortable index at the OBS website.
The Racing Age Section, including 35 newly turned two year olds and 119 older horses is headed by Hip No. 145, Lady Clara, a daughter of Hard Spun who had a timely update by finishing third in the recent Busanda Stakes at Aqueduct. Past performances are currently available via the website.

The 203 newly turned yearlings in the sale are highlighted by the progeny of a strong roster of proven sires including Mr. Greeley, Congrats, Hard Spun, Wildcat Heir, Discreet Cat, High Cotton, With Distinction, Yes It’s True, Graeme Hall, Exchange Rate, Harlans’s Holiday, Bluegrass Cat, Pollard’s Vision, City Zip, Rockport Harbor and Freud.
War Pass heads a deep group of promising sires with yearlings in the sale including Street Boss, Pioneerof the Nile, Dunkirk, Einstein, Cowboy Cal and Kodiak Kowboy. Florida-based sires include Circular Quay, In Summation, Two Step Salsa and Cowtown Cat.
Broodmare buyers will find mares in foal to an exceptionally strong group of stallions. Among the proven sires are Leroidsanimaux (BRZ), Scat Daddy, Pomeroy, Montbrook, Tale of the Cat, Rock Hard Ten, Awesome of Course, Langfuhr, D’wildcat, Mizzen Mast and Put It Back as well as up and comers Lookin At Lucky, Tiz Wonderful, Munnings, Cool Coal Man and Noonmark.
