More Than Ready filly tops March Sale finale
Hip No. 190, a filly by More Than Ready consigned by Jerry Bailey Sales Agency, Agent, went to Steven W. Young for $525,000 to top the second and final session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2010 March Sale of Selected 2-Year-Olds in Training. The chestnut filly, who worked an eighth in :10 1/5 at Sunday’s Under Tack session, is out of Meadow Silk, by Meadowlake, and is a half sister to graded stakes winner Star Dabbler. more

Smart Strike colt tops March Sale's opening session
Hip No. 93, a colt by Smart Strike consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, was sold for $400,000 to Donato Lanni, Agent, to top the first session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2010 March Sale of Selected 2-Year-Olds in Training. The bay colt, whose eighth in :10 1/5 was co-fastest at the distance at Saturday’s Under Tack session, is out of Dixie Holiday, by Dixieland Band, and is a half brother to stakes winner and graded stakes placed Holiday Runner. more

Exchange Rate colt quickest at March Under Tack finale
Hip No. 291, Noble Exchange, a colt by Exchange Rate consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, worked a quarter in :21 flat, fastest time at the distance at the second and final session of the Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2010 March Sale of Selected 2-Year-Olds in Training. The gray or roan colt is out of Social Scene, by Tabasco Cat and is a half brother to stakes placed Winsome Charm. more

March Sale graduate Odysseus takes the Tampa Bay Derby; Diva Delite wins Florida Oaks
OBS graduates took home the big prizes at Festival Day at Tampa Bay Downs Saturday as Padua Stables’ Odysseus scored a thrilling victory in the $300,000 Tampa Bay Derby (G3) and Barbara Vivian & Dominic Vitesse’s Diva Delite led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of the $170,000 Florida Oaks (G3). In addition, George Saufley, J.J. Pletcher, & Gradon & William Patterson’s Phola won the Hillsborough Stakes (G3) on the turf. more

Stormy Atlantic colt fastest at March Under Tack opener
Hip No. 102, Atlantic Bull, a colt by Stormy Atlantic consigned by Derby Dreams, Agent, sped a quarter in :21 1/5 to post the fastest time at the distance at the first session of the Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2010 March Sale of Selected 2-Year-Olds in Training. The gray or roan colt is out of Emptythetill, by Holy Bull, and is a half brother to undefeated Conveyance, winner of the recent Southwest Stakes (G3) at Oaklawn Park. more

Wall Street Wonder wins Aqueduct's Toboggan Stakes

Stetson Stables’ Wall Street Wonder is two for two this year with two stakes wins after taking Aqueduct’s $98,000 Toboggan Stakes on Saturday by a neck, with fellow OBS graduate Driven by Success (April ’07) checking in third. It’s the first graded stakes victory for the 4-year-old Florida-bred colt by City Place, sold for $145,000 by Big C Farm, Agent, at the 2007 OBS August Sale. He’s now 13-4-1-4 with earnings of $216,341. more

OBS graduates Storming Saint, Raise the Bridle one-two in Borderland Derby
OBS April graduates, both trained by Henry Dominguez, were one-two in Sunland Park’s $100,000 Borderland Derby on Saturday. Raise the Bridle (April ’09) crossed the wire first, but was disqualified for interfering with Lathrop G. Hoffman’s Storming Saint in the stretch and placed second. It’s the first stakes win for Storming Saint, a 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Sweetsouthernsaint, sold first by Kaizen Sales, Agent, at the 2008 OBS August Sale before being purchased for $12,000 out of the Hendry Training Stables consignment at the 2009 April Sale. Now 5-2-1-1, Storming Saint has earned $91,770 to date. more

OBS March Sale features connections to Derby contenders
A total of 340 juveniles have been cataloged for the 2010 OBS March Sale of Selected Two-Year-Olds in Training, set for Tuesday and Wednesday, March 16th and 17th. Both sessions begin at 11:00 a.m. The Under Tack Show is set for 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 11th (Hips 1-170), and Friday, March 12th (Hips 171-340). Both the Under Tack show and Sale will be streamed live via the OBS website. more

Hip No. 29, a colt by Tiznow consigned by Bo Hunt, Agent, went to Chuck Sandford, & Maribeth Sandford and Partner for $475,000 to top the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2010 February Selected Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. The dark bay or brown colt, who worked an eighth in :10 1/5 at Friday’s Under Tack Show, is out of stakes placed Six Pack Sally, by Tale of the Cat. more

Quiet All American wins OBS Championship Stakes

The 21st OBS Day of Champions saved its best finish for last as West Point Thoroughbreds’ Quiet All American was up in the final strides to win the $100,000 OBS Championship Stakes for 3-year-old colts and geldings by a neck over William J. Sims’ Gator Tiger, who had swept to the lead with a big run turning for home. Ione and Herbert J. Elkins’ Forty Nine Acres rallied to be another nose back in third. The mile and a sixteenth was run in 1:45 2/5. more

Blind Luck wins Santa Anita's Las Virgenes Stakes
Mark DeDomenico LLC, John Carver and Jerry Hollendorfer’s Blind Luck picked up right where she left off at the end of 2009, flying down the stretch and getting up in the last jump to win Santa Anita’s $250,000 Las Virgenes Stakes (G1) by a nose. That’s two straight grade one wins for the 3-year-old daughter of Pollard’s Vision, consigned to the 2009 OBS April Sale by Omega Farm, Agent. Now 7-5-1-1, she has earned $859,050 to date. more

Despite unseasonably cold and rainy conditions, the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company held their Under Tack Show for the 2010 February Sale of Selected 2-Year-Olds in Training, and fillies by Songandaprayer and Harlan’s Holiday and a colt by Yes It’s True sped quarters in :21 flat to post the fastest works at the distance.. more

This Ones for Phil leads OBS sweep of Sunshine Millions Sprint

Mandato, Dubb & Paul P. Pompa Jr.’s This Ones for Phil outfought fellow OBS graduate Pashito the Che down the stretch and won the Saturday’s $200,000 Sunshine Millions Sprint Stakes by a nose, with Drift King (March ’07) completing the 1-2-3 OBS trifecta. It’s the second straight win for the 4-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Untuttable, consigned by Summerfield, Agent, to the 2006 OBS Fall Mixed Sale. He’s now 15-6-2-1 and has earned $493,360. more
